Moving, Cookouts, MOH Duties, and Life

Well, the move is officially done! I thought I'd go ahead and post a blog today since it's been a week, and since I wont' be typing well after my hand surgery tomorrow. So let me update you on the ever exciting life of Ashley (note: serious sarcasm).

Last Thursday, my parents arrived after driving from Indiana to North Carolina....all the while driving WITH the nasty storm that hit us both. They are troopers. Seriously, if you've ever driven through the mountains (and don't do it regularly) and add in some extreme winds, hail, and a high profile car- you've got the drive my parents made. Kudos, Scott and Tammy!

We moved a bit Thursday, and then the rest of it Friday. I LOVE the place. I have never loved an apartment so much in my life (ask me again in a year, though). It's beautiful, and it is all mine. It's so nice to feel like the entire space is my home. It's nice to know that if I go to work and the kitchen is clean, it will be clean when I return home. I haven't even lived there a whole week yet, but my gosh I'm so much happier already.

On Friday last week, my parents got to meet my NC best friends, JARS. It was hilarious. The wine was flowing, one of the girls grabbed Tammy's boob, and well there was obviously a lot of laughter. Points to my dad for hanging with us all.

JARS is now Scott and Tammy approved.

Saturday, we finished last minute stuff, and then had a cookout with the rest of my Raleigh friends, complete with homemade rum. It was so fun to have all my friends meet my parents. All the people in Indiana know how great Scott and Tammy are, so to have my Raleigh crew finally meet them was awesome. They didn't disappoint (they never do, though).

Sunday, we had a great Father's day! My sister and Blake got to town about 6:00 and my dad got to hang with both of his kids. I know that made him really happy. It was nice to be able to spend the day with him because I couldn't tell you the last time I got to.

So this week I've been working at Duke and ME (working there part time right now), and hanging with family (my dad left on Tuesday, mom is here until Friday and helping me after surgery tomorrow). I am looking forward to a good relaxing weekend because my muscles are sore and I dont think I've slept well in weeks!

In other news: I am getting really amped up for Ashley's wedding in October. We've made a lot of headway with plans for parties, showers, and the big day. Ashley and I have also come up with a hardcore workout schedule that holds us accountable. I refuse to be the flabby armed bridesmaid. And she doesn't want to be the flabby armed bride. Once my wrist heals, I'm looking forward to getting back into Hot Yoga (in addition to what I can do in the mean time) and one of my friends down here promised me he'd help me learn how to use the treadwall in my new gym (its a rock climbing wall....that moves like a treadmill).

This post is so boring if you don't care about my life, and for that I kind of apologize. However, for those of you who do care, I'm sorry I've been pretty MIA lately with even texting people back I want you all to know I love you and I will be more available after tomorrow, I promise!

Much more to come the summer that I'm sure will spark some creativity in me. I'm going on a trolley pub this Sunday (here's hoping the pain isn't too bad!), and have concerts, pool days, JARS days, trips, showers, and so much more going on. I promise, I'll be back to my sarcastic, funny, cat loving self very soon!
